Grassfield Farm is owned and operated by the Bendele Family in Hondo, Texas. Fohn, Jana, and their four children raise livestock the old fashioned way. Allow us to introduce you to our amazing team!
1.Fohn and Jana Bendele
Fohn Bendele and his wife Jana started Grassfield farm 25 years ago when they got married. Fohn and Jana feel very blessed to be able to raise their family on a sustainable farm. They find great joy in providing the highest quality grass-fed meats and eggs for their likeminded customers. You can catch them by phone several days a week while they are out making deliveries in the San Antonio area. As you can see from the photo, they are proud of their German heritage : )
2. Krisann Bendele Blanchard
Krisann graduated from Texas State University a few years back and just got married to our now son-in-law Avery Blanchard last weekend! Together her and Jana run a hand-poured candle business, Little Light Candle Co.
3. William Bendele
William is studying Agriculture at Texas State University; consequently, Fohn has lost his right hand man, who usually had a list a mile long of things to get done on the farm. Driving tractors and building everything from chicken houses to BBQ pits since he was little, William has the knowledge and experience it takes to be the official "fix it and make it work" guy
that we rely on!
4. Brad Bendele
Brad performs a variety of tasks that include inventory control, packaging and shipping. On a weekly basis, he helps move our cattle to new pastures. During his free time, he enjoys playing tennis!
5. Caroline Bendele
Caroline (Brad's twin) is the official photographer on the ranch and can be seen several times a week driving off on her golf cart with all of the dogs and a camera. When she's not cheering on the
sidelines, she is sorting and packing our orders for sale. She's always providing us with new photos to work with, too!
6. Junior
Junior has been helping us since 2000, and everyone agrees we couldn't do it all without his help. Taking care of the laying hens is one of his most time consuming tasks. Other things requiring his
careful attention are checking on the piglets, farm construction, and keeping the barn organized and well stocked. Our farm dogs LOVE Junior and wait every morning for him to serve breakfast. He's known
to share an egg or two!
7. Megan
Megan currently handles our online marketing and manages our social media accounts. She is here to answer your questions with ultra-fast responses on social media and encourage you to share your delicious #GRASSFIELDFARM recipes on Instagram!
8. Farm Dogs
Our four rescue dogs, Ollie, Kit, Toby, and Sam, work hard protecting and patrolling the pastures from any predators. Our livestock is so thankful for such a devoted team!
